Lexus LS400

 :y

25% of the price.
double the MPG
10% of maintenance costs
200x the reliability

same (or damn close) luxury

I've test driven both in the last month or so -
from the inside, you wouldn't know the difference, except I think the lexus is better!

Nice cars Lexus,But for me Bentley does it better(at a price, agreed) :y

Yep but not quite the comfort levels of the later Bentleys though - we had hold of the '55 RR Silver Cloud Earls court show car for a short while back in the 70s (Reg GRP 1) - sold within 6 months but a lovely quiet motor to drive back then - less so today I guess.

or the LS430 which even has more kit  :y

Thanks to both of you! :y :y :y

Yes, Lexus cars I know as  the "Luxury Toyota" and after keeping a Carina II going for 5 years, with it still running very well at 19 years of age, I think I can trust them :y :y :y

I'll give it some thought, but I am still in a "Bentley Dream" and have now joined the Bentley Owners Forum to ask the questions I want answers to. In truth I am hoping my head will eventually take control of my heart! ::) ::) ::) :D :D

A lovely car, and it will only appreciate in value. :y :y :y

But the asking price is really too much for me to "invest" in a car :D :D :D ;)

Go for it, Lizzie....... :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*.....but remember that you have to pay  the wages ( and uniform) of the man that 'sits up front'. :P

I, too, believe that the Turbo R is a lot of car for the money, with potential investment value as an added bonus.

Interest rates are so piss poor these days that many people are starting to invest their hard earned money into 'classic cars'

I'm guessing that a decade from now, maybe less, that the markets will wake up to these sleeping giants and your £6000- £10000 Turbo R will be worth considerably more than it is at present.

See it as an exciting gamble...... :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

The problem is this.

The Lexus, be it a 400/430 /460 is a car which has had it's soul surgically removed.

It does what it says on the tin, but if you have red blood running through your veins it will never 'move you'

The Bentley on the other hand is a living, breathing, life force.......it's many flaws only adding to it's appeal.

It'a a steam locomotive that you can drive on the road, and long may anachronistic beasts of this type survive. :y :y :y :y

Lizzie if you get one you will be able to go to Leeds castle on the Balloons and Bentley days and consume champagne  8) and be spoilt.  ;D
On the serious side they do have problems with the metal worm and as said parts are expensive, the engine is a piece of cake to work on though.  ;) :y
