BBQ'd Steaks time
I need an excuse to do that.
Better get some beer in fridge
I buy whole lumps of ribeye or sirloin in Makro. It costs a lot in one go, but the price per kilo is cheap, so slice it up and into freezer.
Rog - do you treat it before cooking? Like hammering flat, salting, marinade for a few hours type thing? I have always been dissappointed with the steak we get here. It is more a pork country!
No. It's pretty good quality and costs around £13 per kg which is much cheaper than the supermarkets, but you have to buy a huge chunk and cut into individual steaks. I prefer to buy the British rather than the Brazilian which I have found disappointing.
If I am using rump, yes I bash it.
So, I don't bash them, but I do sprinkle with a little garlic salt, and a lot of black pepper or steak seasoning, and marinade in garlic infused olive oil. BBQ for around 2 minutes a side according to thickness to char, and then leave on top shelf of BBQ to cook through according to how they are to be cooked (Rare, Medium, Well etc).
Oh ! One last thing. A decent bottle of Argie Malbec to glug

Free cookery lesson ends
