One of our other (Satin Red) Cavalier's runs on bio fuel, that's a 95/M 1.7TD GLS, with Diplomat leather, auto closure of front and rear windows, electric roof, built in full colour sat nav where the ash tray would normally go (we dont smoke), and a twin fuel tank set up with 6 port fuel switch over valve and flat plate heat exchanger.  We've modified the fuel filters to ones from an Astra 1.7cdti, as they are easier and less messy to change then Cavalier ones.

This will be up for sale in the next 12mths, we're getting a Mk1 Ph1 Renualt Espace 2.1TD eventually to replace it - but we've had 'Mazzie' as she's known since Feb 2007, done around 85,000 miles in her, and we reckon, saved around £8,000 by not buying diesel for her.  On that basis, we dont mind spending a few quid here and there on her come MOT time.

Our 3rd Cavalier, is my 1989 1.6L (carb), in Astro Silver (very rare), which is awaiting restoration, and has GLi interior, CD alloys, and will have electric roof, electric windows all round and an LPG conversion.  She's also got the built in sat nav same as Mazzie, and we've altered a period radio cassette to have an aux input so that I can plug in an iPod or MP3 player without the car looking like its got a flash stereo that is worth nicking.

My day to day car is an M plate 1.8 LS saloon. thing handles like a touring car. Dont use the brakes much at all, just knock it down a gera and drive it at the corner. Had a 1.4 carb "concept model on a J plate, went like $*^t off a shovel and retuned 47mpg. Mine wont see next years mot without a fair wad thrown at it. probably replace it with a zaf

haha, yep, those old Isuzu 1.7TD's are pretty bomb proof, my old 93L Cav TD GLS had over 200k on the clock when it finally died (I paid £46 for that off Ebay as it was advertised as needing a head gasket), and 'Mazzie' has done 156k, we bought her on 72k in Feb 2007 :)

Prior to 'Morticia' (the Omega I had), I had a 93L Astra Convertible - which we removed the 2.0i engine and other stuff from, and converted to a 1.7TDS from an Astra Estate - it was quite a complicated conversion, as anyone who saw my build WIP on MK3OC.com will have seen, but when finished, the car owed me about £350, and it paid for itself really quickly running on veggie oil, and I had it for about 3yrs before I sold it on for £625 to buy the Omega - really miss that car, but its still going strong, the lad who bought it off me has done 45k in 18mths, and he took it to Billing again last weekend :)
