46 mpg from an Toyota

Now i know that this has not a lot to do with Omegas but today took the familys Toyota Corolla to work as the Omega is due to go infor an gearbox oil change over the weekend and also was low on fuel.

I work in Burton about 40 miles 96% motorway driving reset the trip computer and when i got to work it was showing 46 mpg  :o  VERY inpressed and i was not hanging around.

petrol needle has not moved it a 01 with i think a 1.4 VVT engine.At the way the prices are going for petrol may use this more. Not a bad drive and it can move has a very revvy engine.
Looking forward to getting back in the Omega over the weekend  :y

We've just done 163 miles at 11mpg... do the maths!

Hired one of these in South Africa 18 months ago. Not a bad car IMO. A bit bland but that goes with the territory. Seemed to cope with me "touring the garden route" in my normal style (from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth in 1 day, 140 KPH most of the way).

Didn't really notice the fuel consumption after my first fillup was after 500 miles and cost about 20 quid, including a tip for the chap who checked the fluids and cleaned the windscreen.

Hired a Lincoln Navigator is canada couple of years ago and watched helplessly as the fuel needle kept visibly dropping before my eyes.  Went to fill up the 120 Lt tank and it came to........ 50 C$ !!!!  Loved it :y

I had a similar experience Gaffer in the USA in 1990 when we hired a Ford Crown Prince Victoria with a 5.5 ltr engine.  It drank fuel like crazy, but at then 60 CENTS per GALLON it was never going to break the bank! :y

It was about the same time.......maybe a few years later.....i had an hire Cadillac in Boston......dunno what size engine in it.....but I had to stop to get fuel....the forecourt attendant came over....and said to him fill it up.......he asked what right up? as tho i had asked for something silly......i said yep, right up......dunno how much went in......but a full tank cost me $12  ;D 8-)

They roll like mad but stay up Ala 2cv. Individual if nothing else. ::)
