Brakes are something which I wouldn't take a chance on especially on a 1.7tonne barge.

I find Eurocarparts good for brake parts. very good prices. I always check TC price first and then ECP.  :)

I like the pagid stuff.

but then I do drive like a grandma..... wouldn't have a clue what to buy if you needed performance.

out of interest OP do you definitely have vented?

Hmmmm.  Rear brakes are obviously a vital component when it comes to stopping, but I'd worry less when it comes to the rear than the front.  I'd not lose sleep over fitting cheap pads on the rear, but discs???? I'm not so sure.

I have no doubt others will testify that Aftermarket cheapies are perfectly acceptable, and I'd happily bow to their experience, but for the difference in price (when you consider you are changing the discs for the final time in the cars life)... why bother?

I'm with you there, decent quality, right price and dead easy to find.
Last year I paid £60 over the counter for the solid rear discs, pads and some brake cleaner.
Hell, the Canter I drive every day has had Pagid pads in it for the last 40,000 miles.

i'd personally have no qualms about putting non-vx pads or discs in. my personal view (not arguing just my opinion :)) is that vx are really very expensive.

Not on Trade Club, £100 for front discs and pads? it's also relative, price up discs and pads on an Audi A8. That is expensive  ;)

Those in the (not)link are SOLIDS, of no use if your car is currently fitted with vented rears :y

To fit them to a car that should have vented rear discs would be monumentally and criminally stupid :y

Shouldn't it have vented fitted to a late 2.6 car?  :-\  :-\

People who think cheap brakes are a good idea generally end up in a hedge, or the arse end of a bus.  ;D

All DBW V6s should have vented, if it'd got solids on there, you want to change them ASAP.
