Remember we live in the North, how much would you expect to pay a decent decorator?

What I really want is a 'Jobbing' decorator, someone who can do a few jobs as part of it, ie spindles on the stairs and some minor repairs......

How hard can it be? 

Should have been done last week by us, but swmbo not well, I was not at my best and back at work now, if I want a weeks proper holiday at the end of the month I need someone in, got a couple of weeks work if I can find a 'handyman' type of person; Paid someone to cut the hedge and cut the grass last week.....

Now there's a thought, they do a good job of washing the car, we did get an air freshener but it was not a magic tree.......

Decorators down this way are on £120 - £140 when on day rate, so £80 in your neck of the woods sounds about right to me.

If you have more than a couple of days work then you may be better off pinning him down to a fixed price rather than day rate.
