An Elite Quest
« on: 14 November 2006, 01:27:43 »

Finally sorted [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=grin.gif]

One or two of you may remember the start of my quest, it was back in June.

I wanted to retire my old faithfull, Omega 2 Ltr Dti Estate GLS S reg, now on 192,000 miles, fantastic car though, as she had reached a mileage that I could not risk pushing further for business reasons. Plus after 5 years together I wanted a few luxuries like, a CD player, Automatic AC maybe a bit of Leather. Maybe a bit of leather thats gets hot.

I really wanted an Elite DTI Estate, had to Diesel, had to be an 03, because we would be together, working hard for another 5 years, hopefully and why shouldnt I have a bit of comfort doing it.

Some of you warned me of my high expectations and you were right, for 5 months, I searched the clasifieds, Aut****der,  and the net, locally and nationally, nearly every day, most times 3 and 4 times a day, travelled 100's of miles viewing and in that time I came across only Two genuine 03 Elite DTI estates and I missed them both, one by a minutes, after a 40 miles trip, across country side. Sometimes it was soul distroying when I would eagerly start my new seach on the net, only to find the same old, same old, that was there the day before. :(

I looked at other levels CDX, CD, GLS but every one I found seemed to have something that put me off, to high miles, light colour interior, to old, more paint chips than a gallon of touch up could cover or way over priced. I even started looking at the New Ve, Vec, Vect, I cant say it, - I cant. :-X

Anyway I am please to say I found a nice CDX, 03 2.2 Dti Estate, in I know, boring Star Silver, but I love it already. Leather interior a nice hot seat for my bad back (my old one packed in years ago) picked her up tonight and she is sat outside on the drive, behind my old faithful. I have read my new manual from back to front and back again and I cant wait to see her again in the day light tomorrow morning. I feel like a kid at Christmas.

Sorry to bore you all, but I thought I'd just let you all know my quest is ended and I hope I have another faithfull partner. Not an Elite, I know. But what a spec after an 8 year old GLS.

Ps Thought I'd tell you guys, because the Wife is already fed up of hearing about it and went to bed hours ago. ;D Just me and the dog left.

Thanks for all your previous advice.
Gary

Thanks Guys, for all your congrats, it is nice to have someone out there to appreciate my result. The wifes interest lasted about half a hour.

Special thanks to STEVIEF, thanks for your effort, hope your misses, hasnt got to fed up of you scouring the ads for me.  :y

Yes I am realy chuffed about my find, sligtly higher miles than I wanted, but she is in great condition and at the right price. The only thing is now, with fear of starting a new thread. What do I do to make the new motor stand out a bit. It is for work and a diesel, so I wouldnt want to start making it look like a performance car, ie full spoiler kits etc.

But wouldnt mind bringing it up a bit more to the Elite spec. Say rear tailgate spoiler, parking sensors etc. I quite like the later CDX alloys that are already on the car, think they are as nice as the earlier facelift Elites. Anyway thats for the future, I'm just going to enjoy my self for a will.

Thanks Again everyone.

Ps when I get a chance I'll get a photo on with the old and new Estates together.
