1998 Jeep Cherokee petrol . The bloke has written this but does anyone know of the common problem that causes the Jeep to stop  Thinking of buying it if it can be sorted .

Jeep will run but stops after 20 minutes. There is a sensor that has gone. I have tried to changed all of them virtually but cannot find fault. I know lots of Jeeps have the same issu

A 4.0 litre cherokee will keep an Omega honest to 60(around 8 secs) but your right about the fuel consumption

That's what AutoTrader say's  , Parker's 9.2 Sec with 112mph top speed presuming its Auto and this type

These look better.

I used to look after one like the bottom picture,5.7 v8 from memory,that really went but couldn't do corners or stopping very well,very good at drinking unleaded though

Two different models bottom one is a Grand Cherokee, and is available with a selection of proper engines...

Fairly well equipped by looks of it the bottom one, Comfy too i'd imagine.

I had a Grand cherokee Turbo diesel and it was very comfy and dripping with toys,mine was a 2.5 which was a little tardy but later Merc engined versions get along nicely

Poor offroad, not particularly great on road. Why would anyone want one?

They are a smidgen less unreliable than a Land Rover

Pros: Comfort, Lordly driving position, V8 sound.

Cons: Fuel consumption poor, Relatively slow, Ugly, Not much kit, Expensive to buy, Unreliable/Expensive parts ?, Insurance ?, Poor handling, Unless going off road or towing pointless.

Anyone care to add, I can't think of much else at the moment. Unless dirt cheap i wouldn't consider one then again if cheap it will most likely bite you in the behind.

Mr Omegaman is a touch confuddled

V8 comes in several sizes from 4.7-6.2 litres in the Grand Cherokee

Regular Cherokee only came with the 4.0 straight six you mention, or a 2.5 four pot diseasel
