Diesel Omega,I would guess mid thirties around town ? Xantia/306/cavalier/merc 190d etc on veg oil - depends on how you source it. If you get it free,as some people do,then pretty much infinite mpg.If you pay 50p per litre (which is the going rate for good quality oil), then 100mpg (equivalent) is a good estimate.
My Cavalier does 40mpg at 45p per litre. Its been worth its weight in gold to me,but its now very tatty cosmetically,so is going to be replaced by the Merc I bought yesterday.
If the Merc turns out to be a really good reliable example then the Omega will also be going next spring,and I wll save the cost of two lots of tax,ins,MOT etc.

P.S. If your buying a car to run on veg oil, make sure it has a Bosch pump. Other types of pumps usually aren't strong enough to pump veg oil. :y

Yet another one for the Daily Mail rich list. ::) ::) ::) ;)

Which Merc, Albs........SLS or C63?...... ::) ::) ::) :)

What a quality motor, I ran this 2.0 tank for a few years and would rip your hand off for a decent 190D but just don't see them anymore

Theres still a few around,but if they are in A1 condition they make very strong money.The one I just bought has a few none mechanical issues and high miles,but nothing I cant sort,and they are built like tanks and go on forever if looked after. I got it for very little money,so Im a happy man.
Will post up some pics when Ive tidied it up a bit. :y

2.5 engine and manual box is apparently a rare combination,and it has a Cosworth half leather interior,AMG alloys (which need a refurb) and a nice boot spoiler. Shame about the huge dent in he rear door,but a spare door (in the wrong colour) came with the car. :)

They're great motors, nothing fancy just a good solid diesel lump!! It's what my C250 has.  :y

Not going to teach my Granny how to suck eggs  ::), but when I started to run mine on veggie, all the seals on the plastic fuel pipes around the injector pump popped and I had to replace them, then the seal on the solenoid on the injector pump went so I replaced that, and then the seals on the delivery valves on the injector pump went so had to replace them too....  ::)  Basically the seals were old and brittle and couldn't cope with the higher pressures that the veggie oil produces.  That was my take on it anyway.  :-\

Just thought I give a little 'heads up'  :)

Veggie oil is £15.99 for 20 litres in Costco at the moment, so that's 80p a litre.  :y

LPG is 69p litre  ;D
71.9p in deepest Brakkers this morning. Guess the cold weather is setting in...

69p at Bp spencers wood, not including the 5p avg off a litre loyalty card. ;)
