Are cambelt idlers/tensioners supposed to leak grease??
« on: 04 November 2013, 21:33:44 »

Whilst you fine fellows have been sitting indoors snuggling up with the wife in front of the fire, young Bear has been working on his Omega in the freezing cold! Haha I say freezing but it wasn't bad at all. I DIGRESS.

Firstly I trust it's usual for the car to sound like a bag of shite with the bagpipes out and ancillaries removed?

Ok so to locate this squeaking I stripped down the front stuff. as said i'd already run the car without the aux belt and the squeaking remained.

every time I removed a component I started the car until it went away..... as soon as I removed the aux belt tensioner it went away.  ::) had problems with this previously. god knows how I'm going to get around that.

anyways, more important than that was when I gave the belt and pulleys the once over.... belt looks clean and dry although its quite far back on the cam sprockets. that normal???......

then looked at the tensioner and idlers  :o :o :o :o :o :o theyre all appear to be leaking grease.... I trust this isn't normal???  :'(

new cambelt kit??????

Where on earth did you buy that kit from :o

I'd be taking it straight back for a full refund, and buying from VX :-\

Yep. The first time I simply assumed it was my cock-up and i'd done something wrong. Looks like this wouldn't last long at all!!!!!

This time i'm definitely looking for refund and whatever else I can get!!!

Yep, the bearings from new will be slightly over packed with grease, on first running they expel the excess, perfectly normal.

Nothing wrong there at all.

Contitech are genuine parts.

But then I have probably seen and done more cambelts on Omegas than the sum of the people posted so far have  ;D :y
