LPG Doughnut Tank
« on: 31 May 2008, 21:10:58 »

Are we 100% sure that when these are fitted in a saloon spare wheel well on the passenger side, it does block access to the light cluster?

yes i would have thought so tunnie. but this is dependent on the size of tank you put in too. my tank is the same size as my spare ( i have a full size spare)

try gettin to the cluster when the spare is in its place. to see how much room you have.

Reason i ask is i have had my saloon for 3 years now, and i have never touched the light clusters at the back, no bulbs have gone in 3 years!

Only bulb to go so far is a drivers main one.

Any feasability in changing them for LED light bulbs before setting the tank in place ? ---- that should minimise the chances of a failure and the need to get back in there.

LPG was 69p a litre at the local BP today, petrol was £1,19.

Even with my super low millage i could get it back in a year.

I spend about £130 a month on fuel (2 tanks)

So that works out at £1,560 a year in fuel.

£700 for the DIY kit?

Less than 12 months use and its paid for itself

well if your going to fitt a tank why not as a precautionary measure replace all the bulbs in that cluster its not as if they cost the earth and keep the ones you take out as spares.

just an idea but thats what i would do!

edit: i have lost my touch Need to type faster!

Was thinking that, I have not replaced any in 3 years! so if they all do me another 3 years would be fine.

with the tank in place its easier to remove the light cluster complete, however you only have to loosen the strap holding the tank down and tilt it to one side to gain access.
