All can afford to risk their own (and more importantly others lives), can afford to drink to excess, but can't afford a bloody taxi home!!!!

All of the above stopped lived within roughly 5 mile radius of where they'd been drinking!!!

I suppose that comes under the heading of .... "it's only 5 minutes away .... I'll be alright!"

That's half the problem IMHO ... the idiots think they'll be alright as its "just down the road" and the "know their way home" .... punishment should include crushing the car they are driving .. THAT might get their attention !!

If i do a pick up from a pub.....i watch carefully as they approach.....if they aint walking in a straight line.....im off pronto.....hit the 'scrub' button.....and get myself another job  ;)

Tho i agree with what you say Jason......they can bloody walk home......not puke up in a cab and not have the £75 excess charge for spoiling the cab (dunno about other cab drivers, but thats the excess charge we charge)

Let's face it, lots of us have had a pint or two and driven home, I know I have. Back in the 70's, most coppers would give you a tug, ask the question and, if the answer was affirmative, tell you to get straight home. You invariably lived very local because it was usually a pint on the way home from work.
Things are very different now, and quite rightly so. But let's not forget about the times when we were younger and society looked at things differently.

The blue and white badge should be offence enough for that. One tried to run me off the road on the way to the Curry do. Two others just cut me up, not a care. >:(

Agreed .. to a point .. yup we've all been young and stupid .. some of us made old and stupid ... but there are a few differences between then and now IMHO ....

Much more publicity about the problem .. we might not have been "aware" ... that is no longer an excuse

Vehicles involved are massively different ... in a beat up, clapped out morris minor 918 sidevalve I was never (hopefully)  going to do a huge amount of damage to anything I hit .. pedestrians excluded of course ... a modern car like a beemer is that much more powerful it is a far more effective "weapon" .....

Agreed....but an outpouring of disdain is something that comes with age, I think. ;)

Never thought i'd read an episode of Road Wars in an OOF post  :o :o :o

Keep it up Jason and keep the stories coming  :y :y 8)

I'll try, I'll be mostly doin paperwork for the start of tonights shift  :( trying to catch up before goin hunting again  ;D

Early mornings ARE just as bad Andy, we usually get tip offs from disgruntled partners, neighbours and friends. Got one on the horizon for earlies, we bin after for a while now. Just unfortunate that circumstances haven't proven favourable yet, but it'll come.

We're allowed to charge a 'reasonable amount' for soilage/damage, with no set amount...

My definition of reasonsble depends on the mess, but I work on the 'How much would you charge to come out and clean that up at 2am on a sunday morning?' basis... not being able to work until it's clean sadly doesn't come into it.

But even having to pay a hypothetical £120 has to be cheaper than at best getting pulled over or at worst killing other people :-\

The driver of that blue 3 series yesterday had absolutely zero spatial awareness  :o old enough to know better too...
By comparison though, that silver M3 just off the M40 was being driven sensibly, only accelerating when lane ahead was clear :y
