My CDX TD has the harness for these, but I have never been aware of them working? If not I may be able to use the wiring run through the bulkhead to operate the i/c fan switch.

They don't do much, but they generate enough heat to stop the novels freezing. Its borderline in winter, as a slightly weak screen wash mixture will see the nozzles freeze up. They need all the help they can get tbh.

So they should be working on a CDX?

I imagine they only get power when the washers operate, which is far too late on a cold night. I have suffered inoperative washers on a cold night, and on the motorway salt soon builds up on the windscreen making driving difficult. I use neat Vauxhall Opticlean in deep winter. I read it contains ethanol, that's fine, but I hope the cops appreciate that what they smell is screen wash, not brandy, when they stop me.

Not certain as I didn't look at them on my old cdx. They are worth having. In the bonet on the pre face.

My old Elite had them and pretty certain they only worked when the rear screen was on ? but could be wrong.

On cold mornings you could see a very small area around the nozzle becomimg clear of ice but as for there efficiency cant comment as like most the screen either froze up or washers became frozen with low mix screen washer fluid.

Think ther position on the F/L if better as may get a bit more winter protection and they also have a wired heater wire but again dont see how they can be an awfull lot of help with heat

Better to leave working on a daily driver

For the best place to run a wire through on the drivers side...

Remove instrument cluster, followed by the big foam block underneath. If you look towards the coolant bottle through the dash you'll see a 1" grommet... pop a hole in that and run the cable there. It comes out under the scuttle outboard of and slightly above the brake servo iirc

This also gives you room to stow the relay somewhere out of the way behind the cluster

Thanks Al, I looked originally to run it through the pax side, but the loom grommets were rock hard, and I didn't want to damage a loom, so I took the scuttle off and found a blank grommet - possibly the same one you refer to - on the driver's side, which was ideal, as I could see the cabin side of it with the fuse panel removed. I was able to run the wire through there relatively easily, and from there connect it to the switch which is in the old TM switch hole. Well pleased, just got to connect the relay tomorrow, which is going in the relay box for accessibility, then connect to the i/c fan.

I'm not convinced the heaters work on my CDX, although they appear to work on the Elite.

What did you think the wires going to the jets were for then?

I suppose the theory is that the hoses in the engine compartment get heat from the engine, but the nozzles are prone to freezing by evaporation. The reservoir is right at the front and can freeze too. I think the only solution is to use neat Opticlean in the winter. I wonder what they do in Scandinavia?

If they are plugged in near the pollen filter, then they are fitted. If the plug is unused in pollen filter, you don't have them.

I though PFL CDX/Elite did have them, and GLS/CD/MV6 didn't

As Al says, they are on all the time, F14 ignition on. I have checked the resistance, 14 ohms, so 1 amp current, 12 watts consumption. Might help on a chilly day. Being on all year round seems a bit indulgent, especially when manufacturers strive to achieve ever lower fuel consumption in the EC tests. I suspect electric power steering, electric fans and pumps everywhere are only ploys to confuse the lab tests into achieving lower consumption figures.

As are mine on the CDX, I must check the fuse.
