A few weeks ago, when James did mine, he got one from "Drive vauxhall" at Burt St. Edmunds - anywhere near you?

The american sourced pipes are fine as a last resort, but expensive compared to the thermostats

I have had experience of this from a Ford Galaxy years ago. is the seal between the engine bay and the heater area ok. the galaxy one was missing and when i replaced it, this was cured.

Yes alls fine it that area Jay thanks, symptoms seem to point to thermostat ;taking ages for temp gauge to rise up to anything even on town runs. It eventually gets to normal in town so gauge is working.

another cause for misting up inside windscreen is header tank-splits around filler neck-got fed up changing mine -now put 2 part epoxy around neck of tank--engine stays at 90 not lower and not water loss nor misting inside inside--simple

  How many times have you changed it & where have you got the replacements from? I only ever replaced mine once (from Vauxhall) in 10 yrs but that was only because I wanted a nice shiny new white/translucent header tank

reckon it me screwiwing cap too tight--but as said mate no probs---yet 2 years aint bad I suppose for a temporary fix/bodge

I checked filler neck ,all seems good, not losing any water either , thanks for imput

James did mine, and spoke of a "bastard bolt"!
Reminded me of the short and sometimes convoluted transfer hose on the BMC 'A' Series engine - anyone else remember it? - it went between the block and the head and was another inspiration for colourful language!

The early ones wer,nt even convoluted almost a head off job for a piddling little 3" long hose happy days not, belive it was the thermostat bypass hose

Had a look at video, very helpful , i'm a bit worried about how gleeful a true oofer professional looks after thermo removal, think its going to take me a bit longer
