...
Have MB purposely made it difficult to maintain the car do you think?
It's not as user friendly as a Vauxhall

(eg Does the engine have a dip-stick... ?

Yes! Yippee! Though the car keeps telling me within a couple of miles on the motorway to check the oil level the next time I re-fuel and the level is right on the max ...... new level switch it seems.  :(

have you worked out a way of accessing the battery without removing the drivers seat?

No .... because I've not yet needed to.  :y

Have you had any more feedback about the gearbox life expectancy?)
The interweb has various stories about the 7 speed auto box, some good, some not so good ..... but the same applies to a V6 Omega  ;D

Hmm, my 2.6 Elite has done 187,000 miles so far & I doubt that the gearbox oil has ever been changed. I probably need to attend to that if I want to get another year/18K out of it....

In theory it's sealed for life ...... but in reality an oil change is going to be a good thing, especially if the car is a tow car.  :y
