Engine oil question
« on: 15 April 2014, 14:10:29 »

Should I use semi synthetic or fully synthetic 10w 40 engine oil?

Was the original oil in the engine from new, semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

Semi synthetic. If you ever got caught out and only mineral was available, it would mix. With fully synthetic it wouldn,t. 10 w 40 grade

Got another question.

Just found in the shed, 2 unopened 4L of Castrol GTX 15W 40 part synthetic that I got for the BMW. Can I get away with using this?

If not can I get away with mixing it 50/50 with 0W 40 part synthetic? I think this would work out @ 7.5W 40. Would this be safe to use or should I just use the proper 10W 40?

Forgot to ask how much oil does the 2.2 take?

2.2 takes just under 5L, most cases I get around ~4.5L in.

Castrol gets poor feedback here generally, due to the Omega's engines high moisture in the breather system, their oil turns into 'mayo' quite quickly...

Most generally recommend GM's 10/40 Semi Synth, as it's dirt cheap on trade and lasts well  :y

Don't have a trade card.  :( Found some on EBay though for £16 delivered. Don't know if its cheaper anywhere else. I have to go to VX tomorrow to pick up my diff seal. I'll see what they charge to the public and I also need some GM Antifreeze.

VX also said to me over the phone, when I ordered and paid £27.90 for the seal that they (think) it might be the right one  :o and if I want it, it is a non returnable item.  :o LOL They've obviously never heard of the long distance selling act. guest they will if its the wrong one.

Went to join Autobahnstormers. Where it says only participating Vauxhall Dealers and at the counter sales only. How do I find out which VX dealers are accepting the club card in Bristol before joining?

What sort of discount can I expect?
