Split intake pipe before MAF
« on: 14 June 2014, 17:44:26 »

Would it upset the ECU/fuelling?

(GM 2.0DTi, which wasn't running right before, but then about a month ago started running *really* badly)

I'll try to get another pipe as a matter of course, but was thinking if this could be the reason for the sudden lack of power and the surging that has happened in the last month.  It had hardly any power before ;D

If you mean between air filter and MAF then, altho im not that 'bright' on engines i cannot see a reason why it should.....your just taking in unfiltered air

How much power could possibly escape :o Anything less than 75bhp would make it undriveable, surely :-\

And presumably all the rubbish contained in it, including dust and heat... which might be where the power is going, as the intercooler will struggle to cool hot engine bay air enough to increase the density for the turbo to get stuck into :-\

Even after Master replaced the turbo, I doubt it had anywhere near 75bhp. Currently, I'd be surprised if it had 50bhp.  It manages about 80mph as long as its not uphill. It will just about redline (5k rpm) in first and 2nd (but its hard work), no chance in 3rd.

Anything above 3k rpm (even in neutral) it smokes like a bitch

Also, anyone near me got a 2.2DTi Omega, and be prepared to lend me their MAF for an hour or 2?

Could the split bugger the maf if crap is getting in? Hence the request to borrow a maf I suppose. Any splits after the maf, might also be possible?

Although, master says, maf does very little on the TD's, so .... Hence the request to borrow a maf... I suppose ;D

Interesting to see. Is it a fault. Or as designed?

What was the original power output as it left the factory? Do we know?

Is it before or after the turbo? Guessing before but can't see why it should split without some pressure behind it :-\ unless it is collateral damage from some "event"  :-\ :-\
