Propshaft
« on: 30 August 2014, 20:07:09 »

Noticed whilst carrying out routine maintenance under my recently aquired money pit elite that the prop shaft looks very clean and has very new looking label on it.  Dare I ask why a prop shaft would ever have needed to be replaced?  ???

Yup... donut failure on a Granada... the resulting conversation with the road snapped part of the mounting flange off... which was annoying ::)

I've twisted a couple, one on an avenger and one on a cortina estate, by putting two ton of aggregate in the trailer I was towing. Make a right clanking noise they do. :)

I'm noticing a common theme here... cars old enough for Helen of Troy to have owned one...  :D

.............and me on one of my brand new Ford Cortina Estates. Well in truth it was just holding on with two bolts according to the garage as some berk on the Dagenham line had failed to do his job, and nor had the pre-delivery dealership! ::) ::) ::)

It was making a hell of a noise every time I accelerated, and they said it was within moments of dropping down..................with obviously disastrous results. One of my near misses!! :o :o :o :o

Many years ago i used to have a Ford Sierra as a company car.....it used to shudder as i accelerated...i thought it was normal  ::) Until a passenger told me this wasnt normal even for
Fords  ;D I reported the 'fault' and it was taken to a Ford garage....turned out the gearbox was only held in place by the engine  :o ;D
