BBC2 came late in my childhood, and at it's start it was a few hours a day only................ .....

I can just remember swapping the aerial from UHF to VHF (or which ever way round it was) in the back of the telly ........... but I was only young then  ;) ;) :y

My mum could not afford a telly,so I had a crystal set...me old git..ha.ha. :'( :'(

You joke, but in the late 1950's/at the start of the 60's the radio was THE main focus of entertainment.  On non-school days, especially Saturday mornings, I would be 'stuck' to the front of the lovely glowing, warm, and highly comforting valve radio listening to hits like Little White Bull, My Car Went Beep, Beep, Beep, Love and Marriage, Little Dog in the Window etc, etc, etc. :-* :-* :-* :-*

Ah what lovely memories!! :-* :-* :-* 8) 8) 8) ;)

I remember late 50's stepdad bringing home a telly he bought off a bloke in London for a tenner. It was about 3' high with a screen about 10". We felt 'posh'. After a week the picture went, it was hilarious. The family sat around at night looking at the telly and................ 'LISTENING TO IT'.... :-[ :-[

Most of it is crap. :-\

Boxed sets, crosswords or conversation is the answer.

Just watching Breaking Bad. How good is that series.

SWMBO and I frequently find ourselves watching box sets of stuff that was on TV years ago that we were missed and were completely unaware of.

Currently watching "Bodies"  . . . .  :y Passed us by totally when it was on. The same thing happened with The Sopranos.

Now you are talking; I loved that along with The 6.5 Special, which of course was an early TV "pop" show theme song. Those spinning locomotive wheels, thrusting coupling and piston rods, along with the song, just helped me to become a railway fanatic/historian. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :y :y

Thanks for the memory prompt Cleggy!! :-* :-* :y
