Our Village on National News.

Unfortunately for the wrong reasons, >:(  A farmers wife has died and her son seriously injured after they intervened when they caught thieves stealing diesel from the farm tank. >:(
I don’t know them personally though all those interviewed, by the news crews, are well known to me.
Such a tragic turn of events for a few gallons of Diesel, my thoughts go with the family.
The farmer and his son chased a silver Mitsubishi pick up over the fields, the son got run over when he tried to stop the thieves, I hope they get him/them, the pick up will be damaged and the potential thieves must be localish.
I pass the farm twice a day at least, we live is a small community and these things just do not happen around here.
seemingly fuel stealing is on the increase.......................

Yip .. thats terrible .. but a sign of the times I'm afraid .... :(

My place is also in the news for mostly horrible reasons, but the local ex-servicemen - of several organisations - have done a magnificent job, and whenever a repatriation of military casualties takes place, there is a "presence" of folks to pay their respects as the cortege passes through the town and past the War Memorial.

It used to be just 20-30 folks, but is now 200-300 and the road is closed to other traffic, it is turning into a mini-parade as an awful lot of folks wish to honour the fallen. Many shops close for about 30-45 minutes in respect.

It is exceedingly moving, but ... and I don't wish to denigrate what is being done ... what grips my s*** about it is the age of the folks who turn out in all weathers .... I doubt if anyone under 25 even bothers, and the "yoof" have been heard to complain that the road and shops are closed... :(

Just what is the world coming too.. one has to ask .. :(

A village was on the main news tonight that is close to me.

Treeton and Catcliffe

They were on about how they suffered with the floods last year.

Shame they didnt tell the truth.  They were actually scared of Ulley reservoir bursting its banks, so they pumped out millions of litres of water to stop it  happening.

Guess where it went.

Thats right.  Treeton

Terrible!  Just bloody terrible!  :'( :'( :'(

I was out with a police patrol on a Saturday night / Sunday morning shift and at one stage had to attend a farm where men had been seen "trying to steal" sheep, which the farmer reckoned was not unusual because of the values involved.  However, diesel can now be worth more, but it cannot be considered worth more than a life! :o :'(

Yes Mike, and my body clock has just started to adjust back to day light!  ;D ;)

As for what I was doing, I am a civilian carrying out some functions for Kent Police, which has given me the opportunity to go out on patrol to learn the procedures and the "ups and downs" of modern policing. Very interesting and enjoyable!   :y:y

Up to 100 mph in 30 / 40 mph zones, but regrettably  :( as a civilian who was being driven (not driving!)  around by a police patrol that I was learning procedures with! :y :y   It was really interesting and enjoyable!  ;D ;D ;)
