Just comeback from the kennels!
« on: 13 October 2014, 17:01:27 »

We always said we would have a dog when we came to Spain. Took years before one "found" us in the Spring of this year.

He is mostly Irish Setter and was abandoned and in a pretty dire condition. (no chip, emaciated, worms, filthy, ticks, no vaccinations )

Since then he has won us over. It is great taking him on early morning and late evening walks where he can free run. 8)

Well today, I took him and the cat to the kennels /cattery prior to my UK trip. Nice enough place but 100miles round trip as most stuff is here.

the cat was travel sick within 10 miles so had to stop and clean that up, change blanket.

The cat will be fine as she just likes her own company. The dog? well I can still hear him howling now. I can still see his face - is this my prison? What did I do to deserve this master?

Oh the anguish of it all.......... :'( :'(

You knoiw what, I had the same thing with a dalmatian I rescued.   6 months of therapy and hard work on my part brought him from a skeleton who wouldn't eat if someone else was in the room to a fully confident and normal dog.

Then I went to the UK or Christmas and left him in a kennels which had been recommended to me.  When I left him he was crying, howling, barking...it broke me heart.  When I came back to pick him up he was as happy as a pig in sh!t....he had been well looked after, not just physically either and I was so grateful.

You never know, he might go through the same :y

Poor cat? hmm we have had her ten years and she still won't let us pick her up or sit on our lap. I thought we were hermits till I met our cat. ;D

We dropped the Gastrodog off at the kennels for the first time and her cries were alternating between heartbreaking and downright pathetic... Picked her up and she was pleased to see us, but not to leave the Richmondshire countryside...

Things just go from bad to worse.

Dog is apparently quite happy. Probably forgotten us by now.

The cat however hasn't been eating for six days now and we said take her to vets. Two trips with all the stress and sickness.

Vet says got terminal multiple tumours. Best put down. Now or when we get back?

We are gutted not being there.

Some one week trip to Uk. Been here two and Mrs V 4 weeks. No end in sight......

Aint going to sleep much tonight. :(
