  The 427 and 428 ECU,s cant be interchanged, differant plug configuration. Omega Toy tried with his on my one when I first bought it

the car refuses to rev, its a real struggle and dies after 1300 rpm.

think you have picked me up wrong, the transmission coding in the engine ecu is 'Auto' but the car is manual

Ah OK, get it set back to Manual. 427 was only ever used in Manuals, so shouldn't ever be set to Auto. It could potentially be picking up a duff signal from gearbox asking for low power.  However, unless somebody has been playing, this shouldn't have just happened by itself  :-\

If the symptom (not revving) has occurred at the same time the MID warning comes up, you could be on to something.  Or there could be another problem causing the revving (which on TDs usually cause a code in the engine, but no EML).

But defo get it set back to manual.
