Hmm. I'd get someone who knows about them to look at it, personally. A mate of mine had a Tasmin 390 (so with an engine that made it worthwhile!) which had rot in the chassis and he was VERY lucky that he managed to get it rectified without a complete rebuild. As it is, he had to search for a while before he found a welder who was prepared to weld close enough to the fuel tank to avoid dismanthing the whole car.

If that's what you're looking at, just but a kit car starter kit instead, as that's what you'll effectively get, without the frustration of having to take it all apart first, before you can build it.  ;)

But, to summarise:

Engine:  Crap
Colour:  Crap (not to your taste)
Condition: Very potentially crap, but we'll see

Remind me why you're buying this? ;)

Clearly because he can ;D

As for what to look for, this should help... note especially rot at every weld :y

Oh dear, it's a TVR :-\

How many do you get?

Finally.......But not a proper TVR, Al. :y :y :y :y :y :y

An S3 with the weedy 2.9 V6.

Waste of time bothering with that then.

A TVR's strong points are its raw power and handling.

Given that boat anchor you will get neither!  :y

It certainly won't be quick, Mark. I believe the 2.9 has only 170 BHP. My 2.6 Omega has 178/180 depending on which publication you read.

Only weighs about 960 KG though.

Yes but with 250kg of it at the front in the form of an engine much more suited to grumbly torque delivery for heavy cars.

Even the Rover V8 was considerably lighter. (and the right noise).

Unless you are able to do work on it yourself, run away

I'm a cretin. ;D

Just looking at the moment because the car is only a few miles from me. I keep hearing the Dr Pepper tune in my head........" What's the worst that can happen" ::) ::) ::)

I refer the OP to Al's picture, with a reminder that that's a much more recent TVR. ;)

If you're going to buy a rotten TVR, make it a AJP8 engined Cerbera, so the smile when you've sunk most of your savings into restoring it, is worthwhile. :y

Ignoring the daylight you can see through the off side front chassis rail and lower offside front wishbone :D

I'm going to see it at two this afternoon.

I'll take my camera and see if I can get a few pictures.

I'm only taking £150 for a deposit....so not too much to lose  should my usual stupidity overwhelms common sense.
