No, but your comment didn't read (to me, and perhaps them) as though you were suggesting shooting those responsible for progressing the legislation, but rather anyone backing it..

A sensible start would be to line up all the do-gooders backing such crap, and remove their liberty. With a bullet.

I presume from what you just said that you meant 'backing' as in 'backing in the house of Commons & house of Lords' (or whatever the process for new laws is..) rather than anyone who backs it as in 'thinks it's a good idea' .. but perhaps it didn't read that way to the other folks in that thread..

Whichever way it was meant, and whichever way it was taken, it's not an excuse to delete your account. Been a  bit tetchy on here lately, more than usual, but it goes like that sometimes.
While we're on the subject, there has been a lot of .......ermmmm......goading or winding up of Jaime from certain quarters.
As he has tried to explain on numerous occasions, just because he owns the server, he does not ask to be treated differently from anyone else. There are those that hang on his every word and those that think, because he is in the position he is in, that he shouldn't speak his mind.
We are all grown ups, so if you don't like what someone says....tough. You can either come back with a retort or just shut up.

I was referring to those campaigners who have made a career out of misplaced, unenforcible, and ultimately pointless idealism, without stepping back under understanding the consequences.  That's my definition of a do-gooder, not somebody who believes a given idea/suggestion is good (or bad, as I do in this case).

Rog clearly took umbrage at the tone of Tbs post, and this might also have been a situation too many for others, more so given recent sniping

Not going to speak for grown individuals though, above is merely my take on the situation.

Thank you STEMO. Being deadly serious for a minute, the amount of flack I have been receiving from a group of people is the reason why my account has nearly been deleted a number of times this year, and the primary reason for a number of absences of me from OOF.  I'm pretty thick skinned, but it does wear you down after a while.

I don't want to be an Admin here, and haven't for ages, as my Admin colleagues will testify - its been discussed on a number of occasions. It completely and utterly destroys enjoyment of OOF, and with some, means walking on eggshells all the time.  However, to do the technical role I do here, requires me to have access to an Admin level account...  ...and if I see something that needs moderating, well, that's always going to happen.


Now I have (unusually) opened up my true feelings, I do not wish this thread to continue about me, so locking.  Feel free to start another, but leave out any of my above post please.


I am genuinely sorry to see both Rog and chrisgixer have a toy throwing session and leave.  None of my actions were intended to cause offence, and any caused by me, I sincerely apologise for. I wish them, and everyone else here, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and best wishes for the future.
