Vented disc have longer pins, good motor factors will show both types.
Rear pads all the same.

Best way is go to your lokal factor armed with the reg numbers from a mfl 3.0 and a fl 2.6/3.2 the search should give two separate part numbers, vented and non vented :y

Not wanting to start a fight. But our local factor lists both types made by lockead and Apec, that was 12mths past,
will check later when I go round there :)

iirc the Apec kit claims to be the same, they might now do it and if so great as Vx generally have to order them in :-\

Be speaking to Jason in a bit so will try to remember to ask him as well... ATE might do both kits too ;)

I had similar issues when dismantled my rear brakes last year and found pins had all but disintergrated.

Only source was VX Dealers who then needed to order direct from Germany and tok about 5-7 days as no UK stocks at any Stealers.

Cheers Lads
Now i've got 2 tyres on the front WITH TREAD  :-X :-X
I've been trying to pin down this braking / steering twitch which is scary at times.
I already know that one rear disc if ferked to had a look underneath the back end this morning.
One side is hardly worn and the other (without rattle springs) is nearly gone so before I pull the front apart, I better sort the back out  ::)

Edit to say the rear pads / hand brake shoes are only 18 month old

You've reminded me, I know one pad of mine is very low, I'm getting that same twitch you mention. Must get them changed.

Right, just popped into Vauxhall
Apparently, they don't do the kit anymore BUT you can get the bits separate.
EACH PIN is nearly 6 quid each
EACH SPRING is nearly 6 quid each
And apparently, the only stock is in sausage land

They can sell me a pad and fitting kit for ..................... wait for it ............................. 68 quid plus VAT  >:( >:(

If the existing pins are loose, I can bodge them with some fishing lead or solder  :y
As only one spring is missing, am I right in saying that the rattle springs are the same across both rear callipers ?
According to Vauxhall, they are different but I can't see how the hell they can be if the pads are the same  ???

Ahh, if memory serves you're looking at a thicker disc, hence the calipers are 'further apart' (They're not, of course, but you follow my meaning) and this therefore means longer pins. That's as I understand it. Therefore pads can be the same, whether they're going into a caliper for a 1mm thick disc, or a 100mm thick disc. Apologies if I've got it wrong.  :y :y

Also chuffing astonished at the cost of them springs. That's discgraceful, and puts pay to my getting brand new springs, I'll be at the breakers after Xmas, then!

PS: 'discgraceful' was a Freudian slip, no pun intended  :y :y
