rear lights, help
« on: 02 January 2015, 19:22:49 »

I posted in another section, that the girl got through the mot, with 4 items fixed.
3 items were the clear indicator bulbs????? and a fog light. But on the way home, with the lights on, I got a "check" headlight rear light, or something very much like that. Now a few weeks ago, had the same thing, was a bad connection, it was sorted.
The garage mechanic put a brand new bulb in ( the off side cluster of 2 bulbs in the boot lid itself) and no joy. He than put a meter on the wires from that box, and got no reading hardly, so thats the fault....... why then was it all working perfectly well until he replaced the bulb, and if the tester just put a bulb in, and it worked, why would it loose the power in the space of a few 100 yards, hmmmm, sounds dodgy to me. The guy who owns the garage/testing station, said as there was power to the near side, then would just run a live cable to the  offside, problem solved, thats as may, but it does not explain why it happened when they were doing the work
I know I have gone on, but should I just let them fix it as mentioned?? or spend more money and get the wires traced back to see if ones been damaged in the past

Almost impossible to diagnose without seeing it... Could be a busted wire, but could also be a duff/wrong bulb... :-\

Should add, the offside boot lid cluster is fed from the nearside one any way, so rather tgan run an extra wire, fix what's already there :y
