What would it do though? The weld just slide off or summat?

For alloy it farts coughs and creates shite without joining.

For Stainless it works but the joint is not neat or overly strong

For iron it just cracks off or cracks the entire work piece.

I'd love an AC/DC TIG set to learn ally welding on (well, I'd probably go and get instruction somewhere and then use it, to be honest) - but the price is a little prohibitive unless you're doing a lot of it or doing it commercially :(

Guy on the net (chucky2009) has an Mig tig and stick all in one. are they available here?

Oh dear,

Really fancied giving stick a go especially as i'm thinking of making some sturdy things.  :-X

Although for now i've just spied a bunch of steel frame in the waste bin @ work. Come 5pm thats mine for my table if it aint gone  8)

Yes, you can get a Chinese copy one for a few hundred but they are truly awful....although they don't have MIG but will do ARC
