Rear spring lengths amd spec...
« on: 02 February 2015, 18:31:03 »

I'm getting all confused now. I need a pair of springs for the rear of my explod saloon, 2003. I'm tempted by a set that have been offered from an explod 3.0, seller has kindly measured them for me and theyre the same length as mine.
Did they come in different spring rates? Ive always loved how mine rides, handles, and sits.

For reference the ones I'm looking at are approx 27cm - anyone know the length of a standard MV6 spring? :y

I don't think you can tell much from the free length with spring off the car especially as they have already seen some use.

If they are cheap then you haven't got much to lose. If they are not cheap then don't.........

I know it's dangerous to assume, but if your car is ex-plod and the seller's springs are ex-plod I would think they're the same length and rate.

Will try and measure mine (they're off the car, by the way  ::) ) if I get chance tonight, but suspect someone else will beat me to it before then.

Is fitting spring from another 10 years + motor a good idea?

Although more money than the saloon, their not that expensive new.

The plod springs are beefier, and fitted as a set, wear isn't such an issue replacing one.
