As far as I'm aware they were changed at the same time - so a >'00 Omega headlamp will fit an 00> Catera, and 00> Omega fts a 00> Catera. As for wiring I can't say whether it'd be a simple plug n play. As for actual EU-US differences, I'm not sure what you'd be gaining. Have a feeling that some Catera versions have in very small writing the word 'xenon' on them, which is cool, if barely visible.

This link gives some info, might be useful to what you're wanting

Not forgetting that America drives on the other side of the road so the dip beam will be wrong.  ::)

This also , haha! :y

Right - I know of it on some cars - but does the FL headlamp have a little piece of wire that you flip/clip and this moves the beam over? I may have dreamt it for the Omega, but sure I've seen this on one car or another.

There's a lever to cut off the upsweep to the left, but it just leaves a symmetrical flat beam ..... it doesn't make it a LHD headlamp.

Thanks Andy B, that must have been what I was thinking about. So presumably for 'continental driving', not full RHD but 'enough for a holiday' sort of thing?

US construction and use regs different to ours... All EU stuff must be either specifically type approved or E marked... Could cause insurance issues, not to mention actually being illegal :y

And to just analyse what you're saying ckz... I'm not sure how well you know you're Omegas.

Low and hi-beam - I thought all cars had them? Dipped and main beam lights, aren't they?
If you're comparing early Omega lights with the Catera ones, then yes, the Catera ones do 'look better' But the Catera was only introduced in 1997, and in 1997 all Omegas got the new clear-type lenses on the Mini-facelift (MFL as we call it) which are the same as Catera ones. I saw a set of lenses sell for about £20 including postage a few days ago, so not sure how cheap Catera ones are, but they'd have to be pretty cheap. Also as stated by Andy B, Catera ones will be for LHD only. Vauxhalls, Opels and Cadillac Cateras were all fitted with HID/Xenons, it's not just a Cadillac thing, so don't thinkyou have to import Cadillac lights simply to get Xenons. A set of Xenons, including alloy adjusters sold on here for under £100 I believe, a few days ago.

Hope that's cleared up a few things.  :)

By all means..  :) One of them is Cadillac Catera, one of them is Omega. I suppose it's 'place your bets gentlemen!' time :)

well, that's right. none of them is catera. at least not the one i have with the car on the picture.

the one i seen have led light strip integrated for Day Driving Lights DRL, and  a lot more clear then both of them.
i can't upload this picture but looking at it, zoomed in, both bulbs are hid.

so, if this are the standard options for omega and catera, the one i have on this picture must be from some other car, or special modification. something like that.

the full hid compatible lights and the lightstrip as drl was what caught my eye in the first place.
i don't think i like the car itself, although i usualy like the usa cars loads more then eu cars.
