Ignition Coil pack
« on: 21 February 2015, 13:45:18 »

Hello,

I am driving Omega 2.5 V6 / X25XE / 1997

Plug No.1 stopped working. When I went to workshop they told me the problem was with the coil pack.

My mechanic has changed 3 coil packs so far but it didn't work. he plugs the coil and test the pins one by one outside to make sure spark is coming and all good. after fitting on the engine spark no.1 stops
even if he tries it again without plugining the sparks no.1 still no sending any spark.

any idea why this is happening? he even changed the ecu just to try but same issue.

my problem started like 1 month ago when the car started to stall and go completely off when I stop or engine is on idle.

Would it be something else that is faulty other than the coil?

appreciate your comments

Have you tried another set of plug leads?

Could also be a wiring loom issue but for that I'd suspect you'd see 2 cylinders down since the coil is a wasted spark setup.

You can check them with a multi-meter - you should see a pretty high resistance, about 10k I think, but if any are open circuit then they are broken.
