Hi all,

Air con now stopped again, after regas a couple weeks ago.  I therefore started to supect something more than the HP and LP valves (which have been done  :y)

Anyhow, as I had the front grille off (to sort washer bottle sensor) I notice this on the A/C condenser/rad.  I assume this is why its now stopped !!

Green A/C Dye leak appears quite noticeable on rhs at the bottom to middle section.

Are they easy to change ?  and are there any particular makes / suppliers to go for ?  Original GM one ?

I assumed best get new drier at same time ?

What would be cost to get all sorted ?

Thanks in advance.
Andy.

Yep that's leaked out.

Not had to do this job myself so can't help further, but there's plenty of history on here available via the search. Mark Dtm often pops up with a link for condensor and drier.

Normally some on ebay. I think there's a company called coolcars that do them.

Fairly simple job, but requires the rad to come out as well for access. Remember to get new O-rings for the connecting tube blocks. :y

Sorry, I should have said, you will probably get away without renewing the seals, which do cost a few pence, but if you don't it will only be another job to replace them and the cost of another re-charge. :y

Not changed them either... ::)

Best practice is obviously to change ANY disturbed seal :y but a smidgen of common sense goes a long way :y

OK I may give it a go.

Any recommended condensers and driers to get ?

Assume removing main radiator is easy ? And any tips for refilling to make sure no air locks ?

Cheers,
Andy.

Rad has to come out to get it out.

As Shackeng says, worth picking up new seals for the A/C. The old ones *may* be OK, but you won't know for certain until after a £45 regas. So I'd always recommend replacement.

I think chrisgixer is talking about the copper washer seals for the auto gearbox cooler, and these can often be reused without issue, as long as they aren't damaged.  If these do weep, its easy enough to change these at any time afterwards, so not really a problem.  That said, they can't be expensive, if you wanted to replace them as a matter of course. Your choice :)

Obviously, in addition, you will need coolant, as you'll lose a lot of it when you disconnect the rad. You probably won't lose enough ATF to be overly concerned about, but no harm in picking up a small bottle and checking the level (with engine running) after job is complete. And the regas, obviously.

She is a Manual gearbox   8) so assume ignore the ATF gearbox cooler  :y

Yep, wise words on AC seals for the Condenser.  Looking, I assume these are two o rings ?

I shall shop about for a Condenser and Drier.  Not sure how much they would be at the SDealer ?

Any tip for draining and removing the rad ?

Thanks in advance.
