Nope sorry I don't see the attraction of a pick up as an everyday vehicle.Ok if you actually need one for work or carting bales of hay and such for horses/livestock then fine no problem or any other type of task but as a "lifestyle"choice then no.On a slightly different track I see that Ford have now released a Focus ST diesel, don't know engine size or power output or performance figures, just that I saw one yesterday.

Ahem!  I took SWMBO's Mk1.5 Focus for some tyres earlier (128k) and although it's only a 1.6, and is reguarly low on oil, is goes like a bat out of hell on B roads.  If I were to put myself in the focus and my (exceptionally fast) Saab.... on the twisties, I'd feel better in the Focus.

A Roads.... no contest.

The earlier Focus, before it got bloated was and still is an exceptional car to drive.

My mother has had her Focus, a decent specced 1.6 since it was about 18months old, and I've always considered it to be worse in almost every respect than the late Escort it replaced. The extra weight dulls the performance; the driving position feels like a tiny throne strapped to the car; the steering wheel is far too small and thick-rimmed; there's no room in it(try putting more than one suitcase in the boot); it's hideous to look at inside and out; the interior looks and feels cheap; and the ride is poor. As for the handling, the vaunted multi-link rear suspension feels like a Cortina or Sunbeam with knackered void bushes; I want the rear to faithfully follow the front, not squirm about.

For a family hatchback, I'd have an Astra over a Focus everytime.

So you don't think the interior looks like an explosion in a 10 year old Nokia factory? Wierdly shaped, shiny buttons operating overstyled 'dials'?

As for the exterior it looks like it was meant to be the new Galaxy, and was roughly reduced in size on a badly calibrated photocopier. It's hugely out of proportion; how else would a 16"(or bigger) wheel look so small on a car of that size? Go and look at the 16's on your much bigger Omega for an example of what I mean.

Wouldn't call the new Fiesta stunning but I don't think it's a bad looking thing. However I've driven quite a few over some fair distances and must say I find them quite uncomfortable-but then I'm used to big barges like the Senator,Omega and JaguarXJ so no comparison really!

I agree, daughter has a top of the range Ford Ranger (4.2?). Most uncomfortable to ride in. Possibly useful off road, but do I care? :-X

At £32k for a Wild track it's a lot of money but no more than The Top Anarak ;D, but Ford have come along way recently, the transit custom I drive is just the best :y

Clarkson's Raptor P150(?) pick up has got to me. I want one. I want.... A Ford....   :-[ :-X

I don't really. Too big. Wrong hand drive. Too expensive. ....Impressive though. And yes I know the trucks don't need to pass the same crash tests as the cars. But it was impressive in that environment. And that engine noise. Ooooohohooooo. :y

Beween me and you and did like it too....the sound of the supercharger would be a blast ....running it around our village in Leicester ;D ;D ;D
