Breather pipes
« on: 02 May 2015, 12:48:04 »

I have plucked up courage and done the breathers and throttle body today. However, for the life of me, I can't see that breather box, or indeed get my hands anywhere down the back.
The guide says..'do not use floods of carb cleaner as it will affect the oil.' By that, can I assume its ok to squirt a small bit of carb cleaner into the four breather pipes from the top. Meaning in situ :y
Hopefully, I won't be using this car much, as I want to do an oil change before long.

Are you just checking the holes are clear in the breather box?

Need to remove the rubber hoses to inspect the holes and it's much easier to de-gunk the pipes with them removed.  :y
To remove the hoses you need small mole grips (my hose clip pliers are too big to fit in there), midget hands and the hose clips hopefully facing the right way to get a grip on. Rubber hoses can be washed out then.  :y  I'll have tools with me anyway. You can then inspect the pin hole and large hole in breather box.

We'll have a look on Monday, but count your scuttle clips before we start as I always seem to lose one.  ;D
