fuel starvation
« on: 06 May 2015, 18:54:49 »

i have recently had to call out the rac to my omega twice for fuel starvation problems
they got the car running and had no problems until i stopped and tried to restart at which point it ran for about 5 seconds and cut out
i had no problems with the car between break downs as it ran for about 30 mins
someone seems to have bypassed the fuel filter with a sealey hand primer
any ideas would be very welcome
cheers

Assuming the following:

1. It's petrol.
2. It's on level ground.
3. It has over 1/4 tank of petrol in it.
4. That the RAC bloke is a total moron.

... then my money is on it being the Crank Sensor.

Replace with a genuine brand new one, purchased from a genuine Vauxhall dealer that you genuinely have to walk into to pay for/collect.

Of course, if 2. and 3. don't apply, then put at least 4 GALLONS of fuel in and try again.

If neither of those work then you're looking at either the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump.

If my first two suggestions don't work, then ive the bottom of the fuel tank a whack whilst someone else cranks it. If it then fires, the fuel pump is donald, if it doesn't then the relay is... (it's one of the two purple relays in the engine bay fuse box) :y

It would be... ::)

Pump failure :-\ or rather frazzled pump electrics causing issues when hot :-\

Is it the 2.2 dti or the 2.5tdi :-\

Thanks for the mention. But in all fairness all I did was ask a question so the guys on here who know about these things would have a clearer understanding of the problem.Glad to help where I can though.
