Not keen on that route, but if needs must. I doubt my skills with spray can will come up well. Assume 'proper way' is to consider sanding down, priming followed lacquer? Or do you just slap it on?

Yeah, prepare, prime, colour, lacquer.

Even if you find some to match, the practice tarting up your old ones may prove useful experience, for the sake of a can of primer, colour and lacquer

If you do paint it make sure you get the right shade, it has 2 shades. If I remember right one has more sparkle bits in it.
