Do i need to let Locktite threadlocker go off a while before
screwing parts together or just apply and assemble ?
Its for the screw insert on the oil filter mod

I put a dab on, then go ahead and fit it and torque it up

I mite be wrong but the guide dont mention any torque values for the screw insert 
Just screw in

You don't need to let it go off, apply a tiny amount and assemble.

You must ensure that both threads are clean, dry and degreased.

Will be so much more easier to change now . Drained and hosed out
the pond that was dripping on my head through the chassis rail too

well done changes will be much easier.  and cheaper. also much less incentive for a garage to just change the oil but charge for a filter change.  and more difficult to get away with. 

they do still drip oil down your sleeve when removed i have yet to try a wix filter for a catera v6 which has a one way valve and may reduce that.

You must ensure that both threads are clean, dry and degreased.

Which is really hard for the engine side of things given it's job in life, I find.. (easy on the shiny new adapter, of course!)

I cleaned the engine side with some cotton buds soaked in
de greaser till no oil was visible 
I put genuine vx filter on .

I put genuine vx filter on .

for some reason the oe filter for the cadillac catera (same engine as 3.0V6 omega) has a one way seal on it

i don't know why the oe spec is different, maybe US mechanics might sue if they got hot oil down their sleeve.

the seal might also minimise oil starvation on start up by reducing drain from the filter.
