AR25 issues on 2.5V6 Estate
« on: 24 July 2015, 20:42:05 »

So after my gearbox fluid change a few weeks ago and all seeming to be well I have problems again. Strange gear selection happening, banging when lifting off power and 'Automatic Gearbox' being intermittently displayed on the MID. Also seem unable to connect to the gearbox ECU to read any codes.

Any thoughts? Nothing logged in in engine ECU.

Gearbox toast?

In reality, it might be worth simply fitting a known good AR25. 4 hours work and it's all over....

Any codes in gearbox ecu?

Could well be pressure control solenoid....

There is an argument though, rather than go through the time to drop the sump and try that... just change the box for one that is proven and be done with it... its VERY unlikely to be an ECU or wiring issue away from the box..

I notice a AR35 just appeared in the for sale section - could I use that? Or does it have to be a 25 on the 2.5?

My only worry is why I can't connect to the gearbox ECU - I have been able to before....

Yep you can and they are stronger than the AR25

I shall send Joff a message then - not sure mine is long for this world if it keeps banging like it is!

To be honest 70 quid for a AR35 is a no brainer, grab it while its still available, its a strong 3.0/3.2 box and will work fine for your 2.5.  :y

Managed to get the code reader to talk to the gearbox ECU.

P0730 - Gear Ratio Incorrect is the code logged.
