Screen seal
« on: 30 July 2015, 18:31:15 »

I just noticed that my windscreen outer seal is broken:

Two questions:

1. I've tried to find out the part number and have come up with 90460335. Can anyone confirm this is right?

2. Is it a DIY job to fit?

Thanks in advance!  :y

If yours is the top and sides in one then yes 90460335 @ £43.50 retail

It just clips in, but you want to remove the old one very carefully as if you damage the clips attached to the screen you will have to remove the screen to fix.

Thanks, Steve, but you have me worried now!!  :y ;)

What sort of method would you suggest to remove the seal from the clips? Just fingers?

I would start as far down the bottom as you can. When refitting I would use a little soapy liquid in the plastic track so help slipping it in

i think you could repair that - scrub it clean degrease with meths let it dry and then press in some (black) outdoor acrylic sealant.  will probably outlive the windscreen, the car even.

That did cross my mind, though the rest is so faded, it would stick out like a sore thumb — well, to me anyway!!  ;D

Nice and gentle and you will be fine - don't force anything.

Mine is off ATM so will post you a pic tomorrow so you can see what it is before you start.
