Hi all,
MOT fail this morning - rear number plate lights and rear fog lights not working. Bulbs seem fine. Fuse 26 looks fine. A dodgy looking towbar was fitted by previous owner and I'm sure it's to do with botched wiring. But with my limited car knowledge I'm not sure how to go about it. I've attached a few pics of the wiring to the rear of the spare wheel well. In another post the blue/black wire was mentioned. This has been cut and joined to a blue wire going to the towbar. Should I rejoin it to the cut blue/black wire? I don't use the towbar and just want it through the MOT. :y

What is the yellow for, as that insulation is appalling - enough to blow a fuse.

Where in Oxfordshire are you? I'm in Brackley if you're really stuck and need somebody to look.

On the towingelectricslimited box (which says Audible Monitor on the other side) the yellow is 12N Pin 1. Do you know which fuse that might have blown?
I'll redo the insulation tape on it in the meantime.
Thanks for the offer to look at it, I really appreciate it  :y but I'd really like to try and sort it without a 100 mile round trip  :-\

That probably counted against me saying that lol  ;D
Is there anything else I can try?

Check all the fuses... mine blows the tailgate wiring periodically :-\

All the fuses seem fine. I'm going to try and disconnect the wiring to the towbar socket and reconnect it how it was originally.
