We measured one up against a 5 & length ways its only about a couple of inches shorter, but inside you can defo feel its smaller. I for one have to shoehorn myself in & out of one  :( :( :( and thats my only criticism so far. Goes like stink & corners like its on rails!

Ok for chasing bad guys but not my idea of a daily runner.

Erm....................For versatility no, bombproof engine no, built like a tank no. But and its a BIG but, I hate to say it, the T5 has had its day  :'( :'( :'( For performance and driveability these new BM's would beat it hands down. Because we've gone to (wash me mouth out) diesel, the Volvo engine in diesel guise simply wasn't up to it  :'( & blew cylinder heads left right & centre whilst on test  :'( :'( :'(

Which is precisely why they relaunched the T6 AWD :y

Everything has it's day and, in it's day, the V70 was a fantastic bit of kit. But that was quite a long time ago........

Like the omega. In it's day, it was simply the best estate around for motorway use......

Yup, and after being twiddled with, fried the cylinder head. Our colleagues at Merseyside have em & they're off the road more than the 5 series  ::)

A side effect of manufacturer service schedules rather than preventative ones...

Seeing alot of that with Surrey/Sussex... cars coming in for servicing and being sent back out with %worn, but serviceable discs/pads knowing full well that they'd be back in a couple of thousand miles later for new... or conversely car might come in needing a couple of tyres, and 6-700 miles shy of a service only to be sent out with new tyres to come back a week or so later for the service...

Doesn't sound like a big deal, but each time a car comes into the workshops, it's out of service for two or three days :-\

When ours go in for a service we don't see em for weeks, irrespective of condition they get whole new brakes & fluid, tyres, steering joints, all the light bulbs (yes you read correctly BULBS!) and anything else thats worn. If the DPF light is on (God forbid) it goes back to BMW  ::) ::) ::)

..........
But on the plus-side By jeeeeeees it can shift!!!  :y

I have the 435d auto and can confirm that they do indeed shift.  :y
They are also very good on fuel. Ours is used for very short runs (very bad for it I know) and it will still average 42mpg. On a run it will easily do over 600 miles on a tank of diesel. Not bad for something that does 0-60mph in under five seconds.  :y
