lost debit card

i lost my debit card last night, what a nightmare trying to cancel it. had to spell my name 4 times to some idiot who couldnt hardly speak english, then im told delivery date is 25th july for a new card. why are all customer services so crap and the staff are either thick or ignorant???  >:( >:( >:(

The call centre's in India are fine in theory.Not so good in practice.
It is all done because of cheap wages.
It is a shame because many indian people are highly cultured,yet suffer a lot of abuse on the phone. :-?

I agree.  Certainly the BT call centre staff there couldn't be more friendlier and their English is extremely good.

I think Danny hit it right on the head :y; it is how much they are paid that reflects the difference between how good the employee is in terms of skills and ability, just like in the UK! ;)

a lot of staff in this country can be total muppets aswell !! if i get a success with one of them first time i will be amazed !  ::)

I feel sorry for the call centre staff in places like India. They are on very low wages yet most have degrees. They must wonder at the rudeness of some of the customers on the telephone. ::) ::)

I agree with all the above.., am never rude and realise its not their fault but it is more than a little irritating to have someone who does not recognise your cultural references at all, has no idea where in the country you are when u try to give your address six times etc etc.  Its the fault of the companies for going to places like India to reduce costs but oh dear, am a little sick of explaining EVERYTHING three or four times on the phone with neither side really understanding the other because of heavy accents (well however much I hate to admit it, I have got a yam yam accent) lol.

Do none of these companies realise that customer satisfaction/irritation matters?

I do feel very sorry for the people working in these call centres, cause its even less fair on them.

A machine took my card week before last (friday) in Purfleet. Natwest could'nt have been more helpful. I had loose change in my pocket needed diesel in the truck (boss pays me back in cash) 300 mls from home so stranded. Could've phoned for bosses c/card details to buy diesel but needed a few quid myself. Natwest phoned the nearest branch (Brentwood), managed to park the unit (no trailer) & got £300 cash over the counter. New switchcard arrived the next tuesday & works fine. 8-)

I always apologise in advance, and say I realise it's not their fault personally, and then I go ballistic and scream abuse at them.  Mind you, sometimes it is their fault personally.  :(

Being very deaf, I do have trouble with the Indian accents, but I have more trouble with Newcastle, Glasgow and Belfast.  Why do they put call centres in such places?  

Don't under any circumstances attempt to answer that - it will indubitably cause offence.  :) :) :)

lol, yeah now u mention it I do remember having a lot of problems understanding some poor glaswegian woman trying to spell an address I needed lol (apologies to all Glaswegians)

There is no problem understanding Glasgwegians once you have accepted their offer of "have a wee dram" of a good Scottish juice; after a few of them everything makes sense! ;D ;)

i got my card back last night, petrol station bloke said he shouted to me but i never heard him, too late though i cancelled it to be safe even though i knew he had it, never mind new one will turn up eventually,
