Hi Guys,would the above make any difference to cabin heat.Driving to work this morning heaters on full,when doing 70 on the A19.Farley warm air coming out if the heaters,caught in a traffic jam cool air out of the heaters.Why the difference when moving and stationary,or is this hbv/matrix problem.TIA Dean.

HBV isn't hard, just a PITA for access ...... buy a box of plasters  http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90574.0

I never had need for a matrix flush, so never did one, how about a complete flush of the cooling system

Andy had a full service in feb,oil coolant ect when the mot was being done.Would the hbv cause the symptoms i am seeing.Dean.

Could your thermostat be stuck open? What temp does your gauge show? Starting your car from cold, the radiator top hose should stay cold & then as the car gets to temperature it should get warm fairly quickly. If the stat is stuck open, then the top hose will get warm slowly as the engine tries to get to temp.

I forget now which way the vacuum or lack of it on the HBV affects it, but removing the small vacuum hose should make the temp go one way or the other.

It's not your stat then. 

What about removing the vacuum pipe from the HBV? Does that make a difference to the cabin temp?

Andy just me being a pain,if i remove the vac pipe should the cabin temp go up or down.And what would that tell me,hbv breaked or good.Thanks again mate,Dean.

As above, I can't remember ..... but it can only go hot or cold  . The other option is that the valve behind the glove box which switches the vacuum is fubar'd.

Ok Mate,think i will have a look on here,as to what happens with vac pipe removed.Also did not know of said valve behind the glove box,is it accessible.

Remove vac pipe from top of HBV and place a small screw in the pipe leaving the HBV open to atmosphere ... system should now run full hot water through the heater matrix as "bypass" is inoperative ... HTH
