2.5TD vs 2.2TDI
« on: 16 September 2015, 15:00:41 »

Been offered a 2.2dti to replace my 2.5td but don't know if it is worth changing car.

What are the pros and cons of both models.

My current 2.5td has been chiped and gives on average 32mpg urban 42mpg motorway, how does this compare with the 2.2?

Thanks for any advice.

2.5td nicer to drive but 2.2dti better on fuel. My old 2.5 did around the same as yours but my 2.2 is averaging 40.9 at the moment and it would be better if it wasn't for the massive hills around here that drag it down. 2.2 is not refined noise wise  (clattery) but almost as smooth where the 2.5 straight six is lovely when running properly. Not much difference go wise, just the noise that gets me.
