pesky fuel pipes
« on: 27 September 2015, 20:30:44 »

as most of you know i got a shell for my omega that i erm blew up years ago. been collecting parts ready for a massive jigsaw puzzle. so i bought myself a new feed and return fuel lines parts numbers

feed pipe - 90497673
return pipe - 90497554

problem is the return pipe fits as i thought it would near the rear chassis inside and clips into the return pipe to the tank no problem but the feed pipe clips in ok til below the rear seat then tries to go under the prop shaft!! its as if the bend is the wrong way am i doing something wrong or have gm gave me a duff pipe?

if it's like mine I tried to replace my fuel pipe (I think return pipe, too) with a cracking good one from a breakers, to find that, after much bending of the original, I couldn't get it out. Basically looks like a subframe out job, incredibly.  :o

All I can say is if you're working on a car that's not your daily driver, and you want to take things to that level, then get the subframe off, get it cleaned, repainted, service and grease up the handbrake and rear calipers, get new rubber or poly rear donut bushes fitted, then new fuel line, and pop the subframe back on.

Had subframe off for powdercoating. Return pipe sits where i thought it would but feed pipe goes in a different direction below rear seat area.

Hmm.... different routing on different years, maybe?

Would have to say if it still meets up with the fuel pump etc on the top of the tank, should surely be ok. Not unless there's a different routing because of different exhausts, or something daft. Can't think of any other differences at the rear end.

Try looking up on an EPC, or google 'opel parts base' for more clarity  :)

Pipe ends up near middle of tank miles away from filter. Epc says that is the correct feed pipe. Either bent wrong or I'm missing something obvious. The return pipe sits lovely to

It doesn't have a particular tension in direction does it? Like, if you connected it the other way round (assuming the fittings are the same both ends, naturlich).

Has a long straight that's for under floor. If I put it on passenger side it fits like it should on drivers side. Makes me think its bent wrongly

Have you compared the physical part to the diagram?

Looks like it should be the same shape to the return pipe if I compare it on epc. So must be a bad bend
