cant open bonnet
« on: 13 December 2015, 11:22:57 »

help needed. the bonnet handle has stopped opening the bonnet, i can hear the catch trying to work so something is connected. ive checked the manual and there appears to be no emergency way of popping the bonnet. does anyone have any knowledge about what i need to do please. many thanks. Les

Try the two man approach  . . . one keeps the lever pulled back as far as possible  .  .while second pushes downwards ( & then quickly releases ) on bonnet at front centre . Bonnet could /should release.  2nd option is get the other person to push down on front centre as you pull the lever. Once open  adjust cable in engine bay as per maintenance guide  :y

hi, great. all sorted. i was well worried but ive found the fault, slightly annoyed about it. my son pushed down and i pulled lever and yes it worked. however when i was inspecting the area i discovered that a small screw driver had been left atop the nearside lamp, on my lamps i had lamp protectors which are quite expensive i think. anyway this screwdriver had snapped the protector lugs and the protector is gone but leaving screw driver and protector lugs atop the lamp, so the bonnet was not closing correctly, hence not working. so once i taken away the bits now of course the bonnet works just fine. i cant go back to the garage and complain as thats a bit petty but even so it annoying. thank you for help. les.

If it was their error I would, as it could have been left somewhere more dangerous. :y

OK, thanks, understood. I do it tomorrow. Cable is that much elongated that bonnet just opens. Springs etc. are ok.

I strongly advise you to spray the 8mm bolt for a day or two with a good quality penetrating fluid before trying it, especially in very cold conditions (I presume Finland is quite chilly at the moment).  They are easily snapped!
