To add, I have nothing against genuine immigration, but those people who would qualify for visas can apply through the appropriate channels.

What I object to is the expectation of free money/housing with no intention to contribute. I find the emotional blackmail tactics an abhorrence.

Saw on the news a report that some housing association had painted the doors of their properties red. These properties evidently housed asylum seekers. They have kicked up and want their doors repainted.
My argument is in the word 'seeker' Why should these people take up housing, when people have been on housing lists for years, with families being split up because of lack of housing. They have not yet been given permission to stay here.....and why does it take donkey's years to clear or deny them, by which time they have faded into the wherever

As has been said....these applications should be made prior to entry.

I sat here listening to R2 where they're talking about Calais and Jeremy Corbin's visit.  Apparently they reckon there are around 3000 unaccompanied children living in the 'Jungle'  :o 

Also apparently everyone should tell David Cameron to do something about it.  ::)  Seems to me that nobody is telling Francois Hollande to do something about it.  Last time I looked at the map, Calais is in France and ceased to be England's and latterly Britain's responsibility in 1558.  ::)  France is a wealthy first world nation and I think it's disgusting that they have allowed this situation to develop.  >:(

Don't really know why I'm jumping on the bandwagon, but....
Wifey went for a 10K run yesterday that took in Wakefield city centre and even she, the most politically correct person I know, commented on the amount of Asians and Eastern Europeans hanging around in gangs. She said she felt that people were intimidated.
