Don't worry you'll soon have Vauxhall's to play with! :y

Nope, never have an advanced Vauxhall......as there aren't any  :-\ :-\ :-\ The Omega was the last one as far as I can see, the Vectra never really cut it & wasn't big enough - same with the Insignia.

Now with forces moving all their fleets to devil juice the only real contenders are Audi A4/5, BMW 330/530 or Jag XF as their diesel engines have enough clout to keep up with petrol derivatives.

Hopefully (said in loose terms) BMW will pay for the repairs as it is a manufacture fault, but I won't hold my breath.

I long for the day when the higher-ups smell the coffee and switch back to Petrol fuelled cars  :'( :'( :'(
Tell them to hurry up, it might be sold next week ::)

Surely the A6 if an Insignia is not big enough?

Ahem, what about the Biturbo 195bhp CDTi lump ::)

On a side note, my proper Vauxhall trafficmobile is off to pastures new next week, so probably a good thing that the X5 is being fixed...

I don't think it's enough to keep up with some modern cars.

Possibly not, but it won't cost twentyfive squillion pounds to repair when it breaks down ;D

And there lies the crux of the matter. Regardless of what people think of a certain brand of car, the straight six diesel's are bloody quick. If you're in a job where you've got to pursue another vehicle, or get somewhere quickly, you need to be in something pretty nifty. Our current vehicle (run of the mill production car) does 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and knocks on the door of 160mph (limited to 155'ish). It returns damn good economy as well, achieving mid 40's to the gallon, so the Police need something close to these figures.
Narrows the choice down somewhat doesn't it.  :-\  As Jason knows, the *35d brings a smile to your face when you launch it, and the damn thing just keeps pulling until it hits the limiter.  :y
Driven like this daily though, something has to give now and then.   ;D

On the newer ones the reliability ain't too bad, its usually about 150-160k in when sommat goes pop!

Getting delivery of 330 X-Drive tourers in a few months......see how long they last.  :y

Put it another way, the Omega estate will always be preferable to a Meriva ;D
