Enid Blyton :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Just about starting my childhood again through my daughter, she has read many of the short story books and is now about to start on 'The Secret Seven'

Are those the ones who enjoy lashings and lashings of ginger beer' or was it the other 5 who were more famous??   :-/

Think that was the famous 5 :y

If you are after good book for your daughter Artemis Fowl series is brilliant far better than Harry Potter in my opinion :y

Just out of curiosity, generalising a bit; we work, we have a swmbo, or if lucky 2, we have kids, houses, gardens and cars, and most importantly oof, where do you find the time to read????
Aren't you referring to the same thing twice, or is there something I should know?  :o ;D

Terry Pratchett - best ever entertainment
Philip K. Dick - hard going, but makes you think
Tom Holt - clever stuff
Joseph Heller - intense but often hilarious
Evelyn Waugh - documenting the behaviour of the upper classes of my parents' generation
Any of the "Golden Age" SF writers - Asimov, Clarke, Pohl, Kuttner, Heinlein (early stuff), Williamson, Anderson - and a dozen more.
A few more modern SF writers - Niven, Moorcock, Harrison, Budrys (he died last week), Bova and some others
George R R Martin - Song of Ice and Fire - absolutely no idea what's going on
Good ol' Charles Dickens - more words per penny than average
The Harry Potter Books - but they're finished now.
Sherlock Holmes

Can't stand Tolkien. Have never finished Ulysses and I probably never will - it gets harder every time I look at it.

A few people seem to have a good collection of books, I would like to beg, steal or borrow a book called ‘Love is not enough’ by a rather eccentric Headmaster, Howard Case. It had a fairly short run, and not printed in massive quantities. Anyone :question
