Just seen a nice 2.2 dti on fleabay.
Could be a good stop gap whilst I repair mine. Someone has asked whether the 'diesel pump has ever been replaced as they say this is a very common and very expensive fault with the 2.2dti engines'.
Is this something I need to worry about?

When the pump goes the car is generally scrap... Repair cost too much!

Whatever happens, do NOT, EVER fit an electric pump in the feed to the front... It will end in clouds of smoke, high revs and tears

Yes. Any well-used and low priced diesel will be waiting to chew your wallet with some big bills. This is why perfectly respectable looking cars are so cheap. Buy a petrol, or put the money into fixing what you have.

Thanks Nick. With the low mileage I do there is no real benefit to me having a diesel. Will scratch diesel from the possible buy list.

If you buy omega, the petrol engine is the only way to go
And, as a stop gap while repairing V6, get a 4 cylinder petrol.
All opel dti engines have this problem with electronic unit of the high-pressure fuel pump.

And, as Nick W said, all hihg mileage diesels are a very potential money pit.
