3.2 Elite - Heavy steering in one direction
« on: 29 March 2016, 11:33:45 »

The project is currently in for MOT, and I did a few final checks before taking her

When steering lock to lock, not moving at idle, it's fine going left, but when you steer right, for the last bit of the travel only, the steering becomes very heavy

Fluid fine and aux belt new.

Tester didnt sound too bothered when I told him. He thinks it could be because the car has stood for two years or more and it just needs use?

Opinions please :y

I should mention, an increase in revs doesn't help

You'll have checked the tyre pressures presumably...

Because life likes to throw curve balls.  Deal with the obvious then dig further.  :y

Is the anti roll bar clamped securely?

Was it parked up with full lock applied? Suspect the issue is mechanical rather than electrical... Probably a sticky valve in the steering box :y

Tight spot in the steering box or possibly one of the ball joints?

Mine was the same after having new shocks springs and drop links. Got all 4 wheels camber and alignment done and drives straight as anything now.
